Job Description

Registered Professional Nurses (RNs) uphold the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide patient-centered care. They practice professional nursing within legal and ethical frameworks, exemplifying qualities of leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and quality outcomes. RNs practice in a framework outlined in the YNHHS professional practice model, which values Nursing Professional Governance and uses evidence and data to support practice with patients and families at the center. Their care includes establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships, communicating and working collaboratively, and respecting patients' values, preferences, and knowledge of their healthcare situations. RNs are accountable for their professional actions and engage in activities related to ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, and quality of practice. They are expected to contribute to quality nursing practice, evaluate their own and others' nursing practice, and utilize resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services. RNs are licensed and registered in the State of Connecticut, and clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged. They are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program. RNs work in a fast-paced environment, assisting patients ranging from five to three hundred pounds, and may be exposed to infectious diseases and end-of-life conditions. Benefits include tuition reimbursement, student loan repayment, PTO, and retirement accounts. RNs also have access to clinical ladder opportunities and training programs in emergency medicine.
