Job Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks an Internal Medicine Equine Technician to assist in diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions in horses. As a Veterinary Technician in our Equine Internal Medicine Service, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to horses with a variety of internal medical conditions. You will work closely with our board-certified specialists and veterinary students to ensure that each patient receives the best possible treatment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of equine medicine, working in a state-of-the-art facility. The position is Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility is required as the schedule may involve working beyond 5:00 p.m., some weekends, and/or holidays.
About the Service
The Equine Internal Medicine service specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of horses with a variety of clinical conditions. The service provides diagnostic evaluations, hospitalization, and intensive care management of horses needing 24-hour therapy, diagnosis and treatment of emergency conditions, and routine preventative health care.
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Depending upon the combination of education and experience, the successful candidate will be hired as a Veterinary Technician and assigned levels I, II or III.
Level I: Requires an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification as a veterinary technician.
Level II: Requires an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification as a veterinary technician plus 2 years of experience working with equine patients in a professional veterinary setting.
Level III: Requires an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification as a veterinary technician plus 4 years of experience working with equine patients in a professional veterinary setting.
Minimum License and Certifications:
Salary Range: $31,200 - $54,200
