Job Description

Excellent opportunity exists for a full time Hematology-Oncology Physician at the Sacramento VA Medical Center located at Mather, California. Joining a happy, collaborative group of two other full time VA oncologists and multiple part time UC Davis subspecialists and fellows. The incumbent will be responsible for the full range of diagnosis and treatment of patients with oncologic and hematologic disorders, with negotiable opportunity to narrow focus.

  • Low volume patient messages compared to other practices.
  • On-site 12 chair infusion room, oncology pharmacy, and Cancer Nurse Navigator team.
  • Close collaboration with UC Davis Cancer Center
  • 11 UCD fellows with VA continuity clinics
  • See all inpatient consults and take over night/weekend call.
  • Currently 3 UCD faculty with dedicated VA clinics
    • Benign hematology
    • Lung cancer
    • Malignant hematology/BMT
  • Position will come with Volunteer Clinical Professor appointment at UC Davis
  • Consults for small 60 bed hospital with no inpatient oncology unit. On average 2-3 inpatient consults per week, with shared call.
  • Opportunity to participate in clinical research if desired.

Tour of duty: Schedule negotiable within regular business hours based on 40hr work week. Limited phone call 1:6.

Candidates must:

  1. Be a US citizen or PRA (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with [38 U.S.C. § 7407(a)]);
  2. Possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state;
  3. Board prepared/certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology.

Preferred experience: Board certified Medical Oncology and Hematology.
