Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be a new graduate nurse or RN with less than one year of experience, looking to launch their nursing career in a dynamic and supportive environment. As an Orthopedic Surgery Nurse Resident, you will have the opportunity to refine your nursing knowledge and skills under the direct supervision of experienced licensed RNs. You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to the success of our Nurse Residency Program.

About the Role

This is a non-management position that requires a strong commitment to delivering compassionate and evidence-based care. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing individualized plans of care, implementing effective interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to develop leadership and problem-solving skills, work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment: Collect patient data, complete required forms, identify patient problems/needs, set priorities, and interpret diagnostic results.
  • Planning Care: Develop individualized plans of care based on patient needs, incorporating plans from other disciplines and continuing care requirements.
  • Implementing/Managing Care: Provide treatments/procedures, explain nursing procedures to patients, and document patient care delivered.
  • Evaluation: Record patient care delivered, make observations related to impending problems, and implement measures to address these concerns.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning. A minimum requirement for this position is an Associate's degree in Nursing, although a Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred. Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina is mandatory, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Graduates of accredited nursing programs approved by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing are highly encouraged to apply.

Salary Information

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This estimate is based on national averages for similar positions in the United States.

Other Requirements

Please note that candidates with greater than 12 months of experience are not eligible for this position. Additionally, all newly hired RNs at Prisma Health are required to have an ADN or BSN degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the S.C. State Board of Nursing. Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to treat patients and adhere to established policies and procedures.
