The Medical Technologist Lead is responsible for assisting the supervisor with scheduling, quality control, maintenance programs, and work flow organization. This role includes ensuring accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. The role also involves supervising phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area, serving as Charge Medical Technologist, and coordinating work flow. Additionally, the role requires effective communication with staff, patients, and customers, as well as providing customer service, handling biohazardous specimens, and prioritizing daily work demands. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field, and be certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist. They will also have good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. The Medical Technologist Lead will be responsible for ensuring that department testing is reported accurately and in a timely manner, and that appropriate documentation of instrument maintenance and quality control is completed. They will also be responsible for training new employees, participating in continuing education programs, and staying up to date with regulatory changes. The role requires proficiency in LIS, knowledge of biohazardous specimens, and the ability to evaluate processes and equipment for optimal organization and performance. The ideal candidate will have a positive, caring attitude toward clients, patients, staff, and the public, and be able to communicate effectively. They will also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
