Job Description

RESADA is a 30 day inpatient treatment center that offers substance abuse treatment to adult clients in Colorado. 


This position is a entry level position that offers advancement opportunities to become a Certified Addiction Counselor. RESADA helps with training and certification funding to help you become an addiction counselor. 


No experience necessary, just a desire to help with people!!!


 


Starting Range $15-$17 per hour. Starting range is based off experience as well as Credentialing CAT or CAS in Colorado.


 


The Counselor Trainee position Job Description is as follows:


Summary: Performs semi-skilled duties as an Associate Counselor within Residential Treatment, and Detox Modalities. 


Qualifications:
1.  Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
2.  Minimum age 18 years.
3.  Current First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within six months from start date of employment.
4.  Orientation to positive human relations.
5.  If a history of substance abuse/addiction exists, there shall be no evidence of employee substance Use/abuse for a minimum one-year time period.
6.  If a history of substance abuse/addiction exists, abstinence from alcohol/drugs use is mandatory.
7.  Physically able to perform duties of the job. - Medical examination and approval may be required. 


Skills:
1.    Ability to perform treatment duties to include:
1.    Client intake processing 
2.    Client discharge processing
3.    Client records management
4.    Confidentiality of client information and records
5.    Case Management
2.    Ability to develop working knowledge of substance abuse, use, and addiction: symptoms, behaviors, attitudes, treatment methods, and social, medical, and psychological implications thereof.
3.    Ability to perform clear and concise oral communications.
4.    Ability to perform clear and concise written communications.
Responsibilities:
1.    Perform duties, as an Associate Counselor, related to treatment of substance use, abuse, and addiction within guidelines, regulations, and policies.
2.    Primary Milieu, Case Management, and Detox shift work.
3.    Initiate and maintain client care records: clinical notes and reports. 
4.    Maintain confidentiality of client information, records, and identification, per Federal, State, and agency regulations, policies, and procedures.
5.    Attend workshops and training, use literature/materials to enhance treatment information/methods. 
6.    Develop and maintain knowledge of community service agencies for coordination of client care. 
7.    Participate in staffing of clients and staff meetings.
8.    Participate in program planning/development/evaluation. 
9.    Comply with supervision/evaluation of job performance.
10.    Comply with Personnel Policies & Procedures. 
11.    Comply with Treatment Policies & Procedures.
12.    Perform other directives issued by the Executive Director.


Supervision:
Receives supervision from Clinical Supervisor. 


Other:
1. This position requires shift work as defined in this Manual.
2.  Responsible for compliance with BHA counselor certification and program requirements related to obtaining and maintaining CAT certification.
