Job Description

The Advanced Practice Nurse, APN, performs pre-placement physicals, fitness for duty evaluations, return-to-work health evaluations, work-related injuries, and medical clearances of existing employees and potential new hires in accordance to the departments policies, procedures and protocols.The APN evaluates employees medical surveillance, health screenings and for-cause substance testing, and performs many of these same services for external clients as well.The APN serves as the primary provider at off-site clinics for PSEG and other external clients.At least 3yrs of experience with occupational background is preferred.Licensure as an Advanced Practical Nurse required.Master's degree is preferred.A minimum of three years of direct hands-on experience working in occupational/employee health, primary care and/or urgent care settings.Department of Transportation Certification preferred.BLS-CPR and ACLS Certification.CDS and DEA Certification.The APN provides medical assessments, treatments, clearances for RWJBH applicants, team members, constituents and external customers per specific company profiles or regulatory standards.The APN serves employees and provides timely evaluation and treatment of work-related injuries, illnesses and exposures.The APN performs clinical care professionally, serving as a customer advocate and role model.The APN evaluates current protocols and standards of care for translation of best practice into clinical practice.The APN supports the development of evidenced-based practice protocols and standards of care that include interventions and treatments to achieve desired outcomes.The APN applies evidence and value-based practices to achieve positive outcomes for patients.The APN prescribes medications and/or recommends over-the-counter medications as appropriate.The APN initiates laboratory tests, immunizations, and diagnostic test/procedures as appropriate according to regulation and scope of practice.The APN demonstrates competent clinical skills with treatment plans using most effective screening test or procedure.The APN collaborates with physician and consults effectively with other members of the health care team.The APN demonstrates effective communication skills interdisciplinary to achieve results.The APN provides accurate, systematic and organized documentation of findings, recommendations/plan and education.The APN independently participates in continuing education and maintains documentation.The APN develops a personal plan of development in area of clinical expertise, conferring with leader on goals and objectives.The APN provides culturally diverse and educationally appropriate education in relation to patient care/needs.The APN serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff, patients, and other multidisciplinary team members across the continuum to evaluate complex patients and identify appropriate interventions and evaluation of outcomes.The APN acts as a resource to staff for addressing clinical, process, and system opportunities for improvement which promote excellence in care and clinical outcomes.The APN promotes a collaborative work environment which supports the organizational mission, behavior expectations and values.The APN tracks, analyzes, and reports on relevant clinical and quality data and metrics as needed and requested.The APN identifies ethical care issues and coordinates interdisciplinary collaborative meetings to resolve those issues.The APN participates/Provides report out in Hospitals Safety, Infection Control and/or
