Your responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation, filling, and distribution of medications, as well as ensuring compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.Key responsibilities:Filling: Prepare cytotoxic and hazardous drugs (e.g. chemotherapy) using proper aseptic technique.General: Procure and maintain adequate inventory levels on a daily basis in applicable areas.Distribution: Retrieve medications that have been discontinued and return them to the appropriate pharmacy area.General: Practice appropriate hand hygiene both in the pharmacy and in the units.Distribution: Participate in the distribution of medication, including medication cassettes and emergency medication carts.General: Finalize sales using a cash register and follow proper cash handling policies and procedures.General: Ensure that all medications have been safely and securely stored according to regulations.General: Assist in the training of pharmacy personnel and students.General: Comply with Federal and State laws, regulations, and PBM contracting requirements.Required qualifications:Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program, or six months of previous pharmacy technician experience, or six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System, or enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program and in good standing.Act 34.UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran.
