Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Medical Equipment and IT, and in close coordination with the Director of Project Delivery, the Senior Project Manager (SPM) will be part of delivering the design and construction for a highly complex project – the proposed new Hospital at UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights (NHPH). Investment in the future of UCSF Health at the Parnassus Heights campus is critical to the survival and continued growth of the UCSF Health system. To create more access for patients and advance the research and education mission, we must think well into the future and plan accordingly. The Parnassus Heights health facilities need to be replaced and/or renovated for UCSF to meet legislated seismic deadlines of 2030 of which we are required to comply. Equally as important, however, is that investing in our facilities is a way of investing in our providers, patients, and staff by creating a more inviting, functional, and state-of-the-art building in which to provide care.
The project budget is estimated to be approximately $3.8 Billion. The project is currently in the Implementation Documents (construction documents) phase, with a first patient date in 2030.
The position is responsible for oversight and management of Medical Equipment for NHPH including Interventional Labs, Hybrid ORs, Imaging Equipment, SPD and Pharmacy. Medical Equipment Budget is approximately $300M including both architecturally significant and mobile equipment. Senior PM Role includes attending design coordination meetings, facilitating user input and sign off, review of architectural plans, working closely with consultant Medical Equipment Planner & Procurement team and IFOA design and construction team to map out schedule, managing the budget and change request process, oversight of final validation and sign off of equipment with Users, facilitating the procurement, fit up and coordination with transition planning and move-in.
The SPM has first line responsibility to communicate effectively with project stakeholders regarding program, budget, and schedule and construction impact. Specific to SPM for medical equipment, will be responsible for supporting the procurement and delivery timeline for major pieces of equipment to ensure timely information provided to the design and construction team, and to minimize impacts to construction schedule.
SPM supports the project team through all the phases of the project, from A/E selection, conceptual design, Design Development, CD’s, permitting, bid, construction, commissioning, occupancy, and warranty. Coordinate all project activities with the operations of the Medical Center and Campus stakeholders.
PM will work closely with other NHPH PMs to coordinate scope of work and decision making.
PM will need to help lead and facilitate meetings and working groups including UCSF stakeholders, UCSF Clinical Technology, Clinical and Radiology Departments, Designers, and Builders to support a variety of challenges. PM to participate in Target Value Design (TVD) process which helps keep the project on track financially. PM will need to work collaboratively with the rest of the UCSF staff and the Project Team to promote a project culture that maximizes value for NHPH.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
