Job Summary:

Network Monitoring and Maintenance

Monitor wireless network performance and identify and resolve issues promptly.

Perform regular updates, patches, and firmware upgrades.

Conduct routine network audits to ensure security and compliance.



Security and Authentication

Implement and maintain security protocols, encryption, and access controls.

Manage user authentication and authorization through RADIUS or other mechanisms.

Stay up-to-date with security best practices and threats in the wireless networking field.



Troubleshooting and Support

Provide technical support to end-users and assist in diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues.

Collaborate with other IT teams to troubleshoot network-related problems.

Document network configurations and troubleshooting procedures.



Performance Optimization

Analyze network traffic and make recommendations for optimization.

Optimize wireless network performance by fine-tuning configurations.

Plan and execute load balancing and capacity expansion as needed.



Vendor Management

Evaluate and select vendors for wireless network equipment and services.

Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements.

Stay informed about emerging technologies and products in the wireless networking industry.



Policy Development

Develop and enforce policies related to wireless network usage, security, and access.

Educate end-users on network policies and best practices.




Requirements
Supervisory Responsibility: No

Skills & Abilities:

Proven experience as a Wireless Network Administrator or similar role.
Strong knowledge of wireless networking protocols, standards, and technologies (e.g., 802.11ac/ax, WPA3, 802.1X, VLANs).
Familiarity with network management tools and software.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining network security.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Certification(s):

Must be DOD 8140/ 8570 Compliant (e.g. Security+ CE and WCCNA)

Clearance:

Must have a Confidential clearance and be able to maintain.

Nice to have:

Vocera administration experience.
Experience working with DHA.
